President post handed off to Rhoda Bress

As tradition would have it, the school board vice president will replace the president’s position in the new year.
At the last school board meeting, President Tom Bundros stepped down from his post and relinquished the position to Vice President Rhoda Bress.
“I know she’ll just do a phenomenal job,” Bundros said of Bress. “We’re ready to fly here and under her leadership, we’ll hit the ceiling.”
Bress won the vote unanimously. Trustee Javier Aguirre was elected to take Bress’s place as the board’s new vice president.
“It’s been a wild ride but it’s well worth it, Bundros said after a volatile year of breaking ground for a new high school and hiring a new superintendent.
His family joined trustees and district administration in honoring his time as president.
“When Tom became the board president, he didn’t know this was coming,” Superintendent Deborah Flores said of the board’s search for a new superintendent. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to work with you during my first six months on the job.”
Bundros played an essential role in the selection of the superintendent. He acted as the liaison between Flores, the board and the search firm, Flores said.
“Tom and I spent many hours together on the phone. He had a real leadership role.”
