ENGAGEMENT: Whitt/Leal: Kirsten Anne Whitt and Matthew James Leal are engaged to be married.
Kirsten, daughter of Hugh and Gen Whitt of Clearwater, Fla., is in her last year of school in Los Angeles to become a doctor in physical therapy.
Matthew, son of Manny and Adele Leal of Hollister, has a bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning and works as a transportation planning technician for Santa Cruz County.
The couple are planning an Aug. 10 wedding in Hollister.

Ryan Souza
Air Force Airman Ryan M. Souza graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Souza is the son of Shari Souza of Murphy Avenue, Morgan Hill and a 2012 graduate of Live Oak High School.
