About a dozen unmarked police cars descended about 11 a.m. Thursday upon a residence in northwest Gilroy in connection with an April 2009 robbery homicide in Kingsburg.
With the help of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department served multiple search warrants in the Gilroy area, including at a residence on the 10200 block of Santa Teresa Boulevard. According to public records, the Gilroy residence the sheriff unit gathered at this morning belongs to someone with the same last name as one of the suspects in the homicide but it is unclear how the owners are related to the suspect.
Police gathered evidence, including the likely getaway car and other stolen property belonging to the owner of the convenience store, at two locations in Gilroy, according to the Visalia Times-Delta. However, officers would not give details about the items taken during the search.
On Tuesday, police arrested Abraham Del Toro, 22, of Dinuba in Dinuba and Raymond Woodward, 23, of Van Nuys in Los Angeles for the murder of a convenience store clerk. On April 4, 2009, an armed robbery took place at the Super Stop market in Kingsburg. The clerk, 29-year-old Gurtaj Nahal, was confronted by an armed subject who robbed the store, then fired his gun, killing the clerk.
Both suspects have been booked on charges of murder and robbery without the possibility to post bail.
