Dear Editor,
I have been a resident of Eagle Ridge for six years when there were less than 100 homes. We came here for two reasons: golf and the homes.
We bought our home at Eagle Ridge knowing that the golf course was PUBLIC, the gated “security” we were told, is NOT a security system but a “greeting” station. We didn’t expect any “private security” due to the fact that the golf course was to be PUBLIC.
We found out a few years later, that Shappell, the builders, decided to build the streets out of code, which is what a lot of PRIVATE communities do.
So, we have PRIVATE built streets and a PUBLIC golf course … hmmmm … This was a Shappell decision which had nothing to do with homeowners (as there weren’t any back then).
I can only guess that as these homes are being sold, the new homeowners (who probably don’t golf either) are not told of the issues of a PUBLIC vs. PRIVATE golf course and how our streets were not built to PUBLIC code.
Eagle Ridge residents – this is a PUBLIC golf community whether you know it or not. I can only suggest that you review the definitions between PUBLIC and PRIVATE.
If Eagle Ridge needs more police patrol, why not go after Shappell, they are the ones who decided to contradict the PUBLIC vs. PRIVATE.
And to letter writer Ms. Sherri Marshall, I don’t consider myself a “spoiled or elite” Eagle Ridge resident. I am a “spoiled and elite” resident of this great city – GILROY.
