Police Blotter: Recent arrests made in Gilroy and Morgan Hill

Sheriff’s arrest

Under the influence of a controlled substance

Joseph Eric Perez, 24, of Gilroy, 1:04 a.m. May 11, near Sixth and Forest streets for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Valdemar Lopez Pineda, 30, of Gilroy, 11:37 p.m. May 10, near East Sixth Street and Stoney Court.

Identity theft

Fraudulent use of an access card

A Gilroy woman’s debit card was used to make unauthorized purchases, between 4 p.m. May 7 and 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Theft of a license plate

The rear license plate was stolen from a flatbed utility trailer parked on the 2800 block of Godfrey Avenue, between 12 and 4 p.m. Friday.

Burglary

A red Mongoose road bike and another bike were stolen from a barn on the 10600 block of Center Avenue, between 2 p.m. May 11 and 1 p.m. Thursday.

Grand theft

About $25,000 worth of building materials, auto parts, farm equipment and other property was stolen from an unlocked, open trailer parked on the 10900 block of Monterey Highway in Morgan Hill, between 8 p.m. May 12 and 1:35 a.m. Thursday.

Residential burglary

The rear kitchen door of a residence on the 7600 block of Crews Road was pried open, the home was ransacked and electronics, jewelry and a firearm were stolen from inside, between 12 and 6 p.m. May 12.

A hatchet was used to force entry into a residence on the 8000 block of El Matador Drive, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. May 10. However, the home’s alarm system went off and the burglars fled before taking anything.

The side door of a residence on the 8800 block of El Matador Drive was pried and kicked open, the home was ransacked, and electronic equipment, money, checks, video equipment and other property worth $3,780 were stolen, between 1:20 and 4:30 p.m. May 10.

Vandalism

The words “mute oink” were written on a fence on the 1900 block of Buena Vista Avenue in San Martin, between 6 p.m. May 9 and 10 a.m. May 10. There are several other locations in South County with the same graffiti, deputies said.
