Martin Cheek
Former Gilroy Dispatch writer Marty Cheek was a longtime Morgan Hill resident, community advocate and passionate supporter of community journalism, the arts and the outdoors. Born and raised in Hollister, he and a business partner started Morgan Hill Life community newspaper in 2012 and a few years later Gilroy Life. Marty died in 2024 at the age of 57. Marty left a lasting imprint on South Valley and the people who call it home.
