The Gilroy High girls varsity soccer team took the pitch Monday afternoon for a nonleague match against Palo Alto that was originally scheduled for Jan. 3. The Vikings pocketed the game-winner in the in the 77th minute to down the Mustangs, 2-1.
Maggie Trigo-Rocha tallied for GHS. Her goal tied the game in the 34th minute of the first half. Palo Alto took the initial lead 11 minutes into the contest.
“Our girls played well and are starting to understand how to work through issues,” GHS head coach Jose Hernandez said.
The Mustangs (7-5-1) resume Tri-County Athletic League play Wednesday at home at 5:15 p.m. against Alisal. GHS currently sits in first place at 5-0-1 in league.
