After a pair of rainouts last week postponed the start of Tri-County Athletic League play, the Gilroy High softball team took the field versus Notre Dame and exited Salinas with a 2-1 victory Tuesday.
The Mustangs (8-1 overall, 1-0 TCAL) managed just three hits, however two of those did the damage necessary. A run in the first and one in the seventh via a Sarah Lorraine Lira home run and a Melanie Morelos RBI-hit proved sufficient.
Lira scattered three hits in seven innings of work in the circle for the win.
A Casey Lester triple accounted for the only other hit for the Mustangs who travel to face Alisal today before hosting rival San Benito on Thursday. Both games are slated for 4:30 p.m.
The Mustangs have won six straight, including nods over Mitty and Presentation.
