Lady Rams hoops drop opener to Yuba College, 66-60
MARYSVILLE – The Gavilan College women’s basketball team opened its first season under head coach Mike Girardi with Saturday’s hard-fought 66-60 road loss to Yuba College.
The Lady Rams were led by freshman guard Cynthia Pinto with 16 points as well as Sabrina Murphy with 14 points and sophomore Nicole Donley with 11 points.
Gavilan (0-1) will play its first home game Nov. 20 against Solano College at 6 p.m.
Gilroy High’s JV sticks finish season undefeated
GILROY – The Gilroy High junior varsity field hockey team completed its undefeated season with Thursday’s 1-1 tie against North Salinas.
Freshman Jackie Moreno scored for Gilroy – which is coached by Armando Padilla.
