Gavilan used a big second half to pick up its first win of the year.

Brandon Pickens came off the bench to direct the Gavilan College Rams to a tying touchdown in the closing 21 seconds Saturday night, but Yuba prevailed in overtime 17-14 in the season opener for both clubs on the 49ers’ turf Saturday night.

Though Gavilan dominated possession against Yuba, it had to settle for a tie. 

It was as if Gavilan played two completely different games against Contra Costa Saturday.
