GYMNASTICS: CHS qualifies to CCS as team; two GHS individuals into sectionals

Coach Nicky Anagnoston predicted that she needed to get the most out of the five members of Christopher High’s gymnastics team if it were to meet the point total necessary to qualify for the Central Coast Section finals next week.

Rounding the final corner of the Monterey Bay League season this week, Friday's road tilt against Monte Vista Christian already had a must-win tag associated with it. But after Wednesday's loss to Monterey High, the stakes are raised that much more for the Christopher High baseball team.

Heading into the final week of the Tri-County Athletic League slate, the Gilroy High softball team needed to win at least one of its remaining games to finish at least .500 and postseason eligible. The Mustangs decided to get that victory out of the way Tuesday.

Nic Slater had options, Northern Arizona, Sacramento State, California Lutheran and Montana State, to name a few. But, for one reason or another, the Christopher High senior wasn’t quite convinced any of those destinations had that “it” factor. After all, it’s a choice that will impact the next four years of his life.

TUESDAY ROUNDUP: CHS softball, baseball keep pace at top of league

Christopher High softball defeated Pajaro Valley 11-0 in five innings Tuesday in Gilroy. Angelica Carrillo and Kayla Medrano each had two hits and three RBIs, Olivia Barajas drove in two runs, Arianna Vasquez produced a pair of hits and five other Cougars had a hit in the win.

GOLF: Cougars take second at Valley finals, win division title

With three Tri-County Athletic League meets to go, the objective at hand was as cut and dry as it gets for the Christopher High boys golf team.
