Prep Diving: Christopher’s Lopez 9th at CCS

SANTA CLARA—Christopher High diver Anthony Lopez is light-years ahead of where he was three years ago. As a freshman, the Cougar finished 27th at the Central Coast Section Swim and Dive Championships. This year, the Cougar contorted his body in impossible ways to take his place among the section’s best with a ninth place finish.

GILROY—Christopher’s final game of the season was dedicated to the graduating seniors—those who are and those who will never get the chance to.

Prep Track and Field: 7 Gilroy-area athletes claim MBL titles

GILROY—Christopher’s Natalie Gutierrez and Cody Oberlander along with Gilroy’s Nicole Holder and Tim Van Horn have been jumping together for along time. The quartet all attended middle school at Ascension Solorsano, where they helped each other develop their respective skills in the high jump.

The season came to a close for two local teams Tuesday as both found themselves eliminated from the postseason. 

Prep Softball: Gilroy teen Salcido honored during game

GILROY— Pink balloons floated in the Christopher dugout during Tuesday’s game at Gilroy High. The Cougars wore pink socks and eye black and players from both sides donned pink bows in their hair—and did it for Natalia Salcido.

Prep Golf: Gilroy’s Myhr finishes 4 over par at CCS

CARMEL—Though Gilroy High golfer Magnus Myhr started off on a hot streak, he finished a few strokes shy of extending his season.

Remembering Natalia Salcido

Christopher High School held a candlelight vigil in honor of 15-year-old Natalia Salcido, who was killed in a car accident May 9. Salcido was a sophomore at the school and a member of the cheer and dance team. More than 1,000 people attended the vigil to honor and remember Salcido's life on Monday evening.
