GILROY—Christopher’s Anthony Sammut had always played quarterback since taking up football in fifth grade. When coach Tim Pierleoni reassigned him as a wide receiver his junior year, it was difficult to accept.

Christopher’s brand new track was christened by hosting a meet that just wouldn’t end.

Christopher dropped its second straight game, falling 4-0 to Salinas at home Tuesday. 

GILROY—History was made last Friday as the Christopher High swimming team beat San Benito for the first time in its six-year existence as a program.

Gilroy won its second straight league contest, beating out North Monterey County by six strokes Monday at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch.

Sobrato and Christopher’s game Thursday didn’t start as the pitcher’s duel it became.

GILROY—On the eve of signing his football scholarship with Minot State University, the Cougars’ senior Anthony Sammut had only one thing on his mind: lacrosse.

Gilroy recorded its first league win, combining for 232 points Tuesday at Pajaro Valley Golf Club in Watsonville.

After being shutout 3-0 by San Benito on Thursday, Gilroy rebounded with a league win over Palma.

GILROY—Gilroy’s Lauren Castro and Sobrato’s Morgan Martinelli have played together since they were 8 years old and know how dangerous each other can be. So when Martinelli stepped up to the plate in the top of the seventh inning—the game tied at 3-3—Castro knew that anything could happen.
