Sharks clip Detroit’s wings to snap losing streak

SAN JOSE – Mirco Mueller produced one goal and one assist in the first period Saturday night to spark the San Jose Sharks to a 6-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings at sold-out SAP Center.

Sharks make trade; down Leafs 3-1

SAN JOSE – Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson announced, during Tuesday night’s home game against Toronto, a trade to obtain right-winger Jannik Hansen from the Vancouver Canucks.

Collett, Malick Excel

Gilroy High's Edward Malick, 14, and Meagan Collett, 15, swam Saturday in the Treasure Island Swim. They started out in the waters off of Treasure Island and swam along the Bay Bridge to pier 14 in the 1.5-mile race. There were 257 swimmers competing in the event.
