Gilroy welterweight Robert Guerrero admitted Wednesday that there has been a large defect in his past couple of training camps. He said he wasn’t sparring enough and that his sparring partners were inadequate. Perhaps that explains why he wasn’t sharp in his all-too-narrow victory over Aron Martinez last June.

The Gilroy girls basketball team has held their last two opponents to just 36 points while scoring 105 of its own. The Mustangs rolled to a 45-16 win at Pajaro Valley Thursday, improving to 10-7 overall, 7-1 in league. Stats from this game were not yet available. Gilroy will take on Alisal at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home for its third to last game of the regular season.
