Justin Hale pitched four scoreless innings of relief to help Gilroy High’s baseball team to a 4-2 home win over Watsonville on Wednesday.

After losing his second match of Day 1 at last weekend's Mid Cals Invitational, Gilroy High freshman 106-pounder Jesse Vasquez won eight straight encounters - the eighth gave him a third-place showing. Vasquez, currently ranked No. 3 in the Central Coast Section, according to ccsrank.com, backed up that performance, increased his unbeaten streak to 13 with a 5-0 mark and took home one of five individual titles for the Mustangs at the 48th annual Overfelt Classic on Saturday in San Jose.

The Christopher softball team is red hot right now and shows no signs of slowing down.

Thirty-eight former Gilroy High wrestlers and coaches were honored prior to Wednesday night's Tri-County Athletic League dual meet against San Benito, and the Mustangs proceeded to treat the alumni to a glimpse of the now with a dominating 64-12 victory under the spotlight at GHS.

As long as the Christopher High girls basketball team plays with grit, coach Heather Ridley will be satisfied.  The Cougars have displayed plenty of that this season, sporting a 12-4 overall record and 2-2 mark in the ultra-competitive Blossom Valley Athletic League Mount Hamilton Division....
