Fires in the North Bay caused havoc in the South Bay and beyond last week as smoky conditions led to game cancellations across Santa Clara County as well as some headaches for Gilroy teams.

SAN JOSE – San Jose continued its 17-year domination at home against Montreal Tuesday night by outlasting the Canadiens 5-2 before 17,377 fans at SAP Center.

The Gavilan College women’s volleyball team has been road warriors this season—literally. Due to the renovation of the school’s gym, the Rams haven’t had a place on campus to play or practice. Instead, Gavilan has been relegated to practice at Gilroy High’s auxiliary gym—read, not the main gym—while playing every match on the road.
