“I live near El Roble Elementary School and walk my dog a lot. I was reading in the paper about all the traffic problems. I’ve thought for a long time that they need a four-way stop at the corner of Third Street and Santa Teresa Boulevard. This is especially bad during the school year. Also there is no stop sign at the end of Fourth Street before it comes into Santa Teresa by the playground.”
Red Phone: Dear Give Me A Sign, There should soon be signs at these areas the city has identified as problematic, said City Engineer Don Dey. ”
“The city and the school have just started their Safe Routes to School Program. We’ll be looking at the traffic safety issues now that school has got going. So we should hopefully be seeing progress in the next six to 12 months.”

Why not be proactive?
“Why does the city not routinely patrol for trailers parked on residential streets? Apparently every violation needs to be called in to the police parking hotline.
Red Phone: Dear Proactivity Needed, The city does follow up on cases like this but does it on a case by case basis, said Code Enforcement Officer Scott Barron. The city relies on the public to be its eyes and ears where matters of blight and parking are concerned. It comes down to making a choice. Which would you rather have – officers hunting down gang members, or officers ticketing trailers? That said, you can register parking complaints by calling 846-0350.
