What inspires you? Professional musicians inspire me, especially those, like classical pianists, that don’t generally fall into the “mainstream” categories. Why? Because despite the general belief that it is difficult to make money as a musician unless they have connections, they still do what they love because they love it. Money isn’t their prime motivator. Their passion for music is, and I think that’s extremely brave and courageous of them.
What is your favorite subject in school and why? I would have to say Mathematics is my favorite subject in school because there is (almost) always a correct answer, whereas other subjects are usually open to interpretation. Also, there is currently a feud between the AP Calculus and AP Statistics classes at Christopher High over which class is better, and I personally think it’s hilarious.
If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be? If I had the power to change one thing in the world, I would make all resources unlimited (which is unrealistic, of course). Doing so would provide universal food, clean water, air, and space for living. I feel that if we did not have to compete for resources, people would be able to pursue things that they enjoy doing, not what they feel they have to do.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go? If I could go anywhere, I would go to Hogwarts because I would like to learn magic. The idea seems magical…
Name one big challenge in your life right now. One challenge is balancing everything that I have going on. From college applications to planning events in ASB, first semester is extremely hectic! There’s barely any time for me to have any recreational time, that’s for sure.
What is your dream job? I would love to be a computer programmer or analyst, but I am not completely sure yet. In all honestly, it doesn’t matter as long as I am happy with what I do. I don’t want to be one of those people who dread going to work every day and regret working where they do.
If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without? If I were stuck on a deserted island, I probably could not live without a clean water source, lots of food, and a SHELTERBOX! (ShelterBox is a disaster-relief organization that sends boxes full of supplies to countries in need. ShelterBox was the international project that CHS’s and other schools’ Interact Clubs in our district donated to two years ago).
Favorite book? It’s too difficult to choose just one. My favorite books are “I am the Messenger” by Markus Zusak, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky, and “The Color Purple” by Alice Walker.
Something that makes you smile? As cliché as it may sound, music makes me smile like no other. Again, I refer to classical music because classical music is so beautiful and so emotional that there are simply no words to describe it. You can only feel it.
