The Morgan Hill Community Foundation hosted its first ever Discover Morgan Hill Road Rally and Poker Fun Run on Saturday.

Fresno resident Christian Smart won the Road Rally trophy and $500 prize for the best poker hand, edging out many other auto enthusiasts, motorcycle connoisseurs and bicyclists from Morgan Hill and around California.

“I am glad to be a part of such a great event that is not only fun, but also a benefit for Morgan Hill,” said Smart. “There are lots of great things to check out in this part of Northern California – wineries, spectacular parks, businesses – and this was a great way to do it.”

The Road Rally showcased what makes south Santa Clara County such an attractive area for businesses and residents. More than 25 businesses and parks participated as Road Rally stops covering Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy.

“We had a very supportive response from businesses in the area that wanted to be a part of something new and a lot of enthusiasm from those who entered. We’ll do our best to host another Road Rally next year that offers the same high level of fun and gives our town the positive exposure that it deserves,” said Dave Reisenauer, president of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation.

The Road Rally also helped the MHCF raise funds for its “10 for 10” program, a $10,000 grant that will be awarded to one local nonprofit in November to commemorate the MHCF’s 10 years of philanthropy. A copy of the grant application and rules are now available at www.morganhillcf.org. The application deadline is Sept. 1. Grant applications and all documentation should be mailed to MHCF, P.O. Box 1974, Morgan Hill, CA 95038. Questions? Contact: Mario Banuelos, ma************@mo**********.org. For details, visit www.morganhillcf.org.
