Police are looking for a suspect who evaded officers Friday afternoon after they attempted to arrest him for a parole violation, according to the Gilroy Police Department.

A parole officer officer attempted to arrest the suspect near the corner of Eigleberry and Seventh streets, according to GPD Capt. Kurt Svardal.

The suspect refused to cooperate with the officer and ran down Eigleberry Street toward Eight Street, Svardal said.

A witness told police they saw the suspect enter a neighbor’s backyard, prompting a search behind homes in the immediate area, Svardal said.

Officers, despite the assistance of a K-9 unit, were not able to locate the suspect.
