We sent the following letter to Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith and wanted to share it:
My husband and I reported an attempted robbery at our place of business. Officer Richard Rutman was dispatched to take the call. He treated us with the utmost respect and care. Even though none of our items was stolen, he took all the information regarding the suspects and their vehicle. He treated our case as if we were actually robbed. He informed us that if we could get any more information regarding either the suspects or their vehicle to call the local phone number to report the additional information.
The next day we spotted the suspects and called 911. We were amazed at the response. Sheriffs and the Gilroy Police responded immediately and took all the suspects into custody. This was a very happy ending to our story.
We would like to extend our gratitude and praise to Officer Richard Rutman and the other local sheriffs and Gilroy PD. We were treated with respect and concern.
With all the financial cutbacks your office is facing, we just wanted to let you know that we are extremely pleased and impressed with the quality of our local Sheriffs officers.
