Construction on the new downtown started mid January and we are desperately hoping for completion in October/November.
If you have not taken the time to view the construction, you should come down to take a stroll on Monterey between Fourth and Sixth streets.
It has been said that it looks like, “The old west days” or “Downtown Beirut”. Either way, it is quite a sight, and it is going to be beautiful once it is complete.
As a person with a big commitment to a vibrant downtown we can all enjoy, I just wanted to take time to invite the Gilroy residents to support the restaurants, shops and other businesses during this rebuilding period.
If you have not been down to enjoy the Fifth Street Live, our free concert series, you have to check it out. It is very cool, just bring a folding chair and relax. And please remember that when you spend your dollars at locally owned businesses, you are investing in the place you live. That money is more likely to stay local, continually working to enhance the community, and keep the local economy strong.
