Dear Editor,

For 11 years the Tee Off For Youth Golf Tournament has provided substantial funding for the Gilroy Youth Center. This year’s event, held Oct. 11 at CordeValle Golf Club, was the event’s most successful. The committee for the tournament and the kids who benefit would like to thank all of those who made it possible.

First to be acknowledged has to be Supervisor Don Gage. Without his efforts to bring our sponsors and players together, the success would be greatly diminished. Don was the founder of the event and at the time the city purchased the youth center property from PG&E, he made a commitment to make the program self-funding and not a burden on the city general fund. Through this tournament, Don has kept this promise.

Our Gold sponsors in this event were: Chicago Tile Company, McCarthy Ranch, the Arcadia Companies, CordeValle Golf Club and the San Jose Real Estate Board. The generosity of these companies insures the success of the tournament.

Our Silver sponsors were South Valley Nation Bank, HMH Engineers and RJA Engineers who underwrote significant portions of the tournament.

The following is a list of our table sponsors, many of whom have supported the tournament since its inception: Andy Faber; California Fun Jump; Norm Matteoni; Ben Yamane; Linda Callon; Gilroy Exchange; Malech Ranch; Berliner Cohen; MH Engineering; Trans Valley Transport; McDonald’s of Gilroy; Shappell Industries; Glen Loma; Arcadia Development; Ron Pray; SV Disposal; Al DeFrancesco; Strangis Properties; Bracco’s Towing; Ralph Santos; Habing; Rancho 101; Wells and Reimel; Shapell; Gilroy Elks; Headstart Nursery and the Gilroy Dispatch.

Thank you all from the committee and the kids.
