levels

Gilroy – Temperatures were colder in Gilroy Monday than in such cold-weather locales as New York, Boston, Chicago and Detroit.
With lows dipping to 28 degrees Tuesday morning, frost covered lawns and roofs. The temperature was only two degrees warmer than the record low of 26 degrees in 1971.
An official at the National Weather service said the cold weather is due to “a cold air mass, clear skies and dry air.”
But, fear not, California weather is scheduled to gradually warm up by the end of the week.
Local vineyards, however, are not anxious for the chillier weather to pass and instead welcome it.
“Cold weather is good for the vineyards,” said Mario Fortino, owner of Hecker Pass Winery. “It gives the trees the time to rest that they need.”
Dan Fiori from Fiori Farm Inc. shared similar sentiments and said that the weather is benefiting his farm.
“The weather is helping us to dry the ground up. In our case (the weather) is not hurting us at all.”
The National Whether Service reported that temperatures will reach the high 50s by midweek and hit the low 60s by the weekend. There is also a chance of rain early to mid day Thursday with skies clearing up again on Friday. The chance of rain will add moisture to the air helping the temperatures rise.
