No. 1-singles player Shelby O’Hara nearly pulled out a
come-from-behind victory.
No. 2-singles player, Nubia Juarez, served up an impressive straight sets victory (6-1, 6-3) to claim a team-point for the Christopher High girls varsity tennis team. But the Cougars’ effort was topped by visiting Monte Vista Christian in a 6-1 loss Tuesday.

Filling in at No. 1-singles for the Cougars, Shelby O’Hara rallied from a first-set loss to force a third-set tiebreaker with a 7-6 second-set win. O’Hara eventually fell short in the third set (4-6, 7-6, 5-10) but received accolades from head coach Patrick McBrearty for her performance, who called it “the match of the day.”

The Cougars continue Monterey Bay League play at home against Monterey on Thursday. Match time is slated for 4 p.m.
