FOOTBALL
The 5-1 Central Coast Barnstormers invite all to attend their final home game of the season at 1 p.m. Saturday as they take on the 5-1 Placer County Bears. The Central Coast Barnstormers hope you can join in to remember coach John Garcia, who died in October, as well enjoy some hard hitting football action. Details: ccbfootball.com.
Just before the start of the 2012 season, The Central Coast Barnstormers learned of the passing of Garcia. Not only was Garcia a great team supporter who attended many of the team’s home games, but he would also give the coaching staff insight on what he had seen at halftime. He also coached many of the current players during his time at Gavilan College. He joined coaching staff during the team’s last championship game in 2009, coaching alongside of the team’s then-head coach, son Greg Garcia. The Barnstormers have dedicated the 2012 season to coach John Garcia. In tribute to their coach and friend the team, they have placed the initials JG on their helmets since the start of the 2012 season.
