Mailbox not missing: “Hi there, I was just reading the paper this afternoon and I noticed that somebody had made a complaint about the Wren Avenue mailboxes. Your response was that the Post Office supervisors didn’t return calls and that perhaps they were being repaired. Just for information, I work in that complex and the mailboxes are still here, but they have been moved over to the inner side parking lot inside the building. It’s no longer streetside. So if they drive around the parking lot on the left hand side, they will find all the mailboxes and the UPS box. Thank you.”

• “Hi, I was just reading the paper about the caller who asked about the mailbox on Wren. It is still there, they moved it though. When you go into the parking lot, you have to go towards the business offices on the left and it’s in that parking lot right there with the UPS pickup. Just thought you’d like to know, it is still there, it’s just in a different area. Thanks.”

• “Hi Red Phone, love your column. I just wanted to let the caller know about the mailbox that is missing now. It’s too bad officials didn’t give you any information on this because the boxes have been moved. If you go into the parking lot, drive to the offices on the left. The boxes are there in that parking lot. I hope this helps the caller who was curious about what happened. Thanks Red Phone!”

Readers have proven once again that they will come through in a crunch. In its last column, a caller asked what happened to the mailbox at Third Street and Wren. After multiple calls to the post office, and no return messages, Red Phone ran the call with a brief response that perhaps the mailbox was out for repairs.

The Red Phone was wrong and thanks the callers who stepped up to the plate to let those who were wondering know that the boxes were simply moved.

Tri-Plex rocks: “Hi, I’m calling about Gilroy’s music fest several weeks ago. It was just great! A band called Tri-plex performed and I was amazed at this group of talented young adults, especially their new lead singer, who they introduced as Margie. What a sensational, extraordinary voice this girl had. My family and I would love to see them again. Are they a local band or are they performing again at the music fest or maybe the Garlic Festival? We would love to know where we can watch one of their concerts again. Can you please let us know? Thanks.”

Your Red Phone apologizes for not getting to your call sooner. Tri-plex has proven a hard band to track down. The eclectic musicians opened up the Fifth Street Live Music Series in downtown Gilroy on Friday, June 24.

Tri-plex is a local band founded by Gilroy and San Jose residents in 1995 and they have seen a variety of musicians come and go through the years.

A recent addition to the band, and a favorite of yours, caller, is Margie Morelos who joined the band six months ago.

The band is heavy into the hip-hop scene, but they also dabble with reggae and Latin music. The group enjoys participating in community events like the downtown music series but does not have any upcoming shows in Gilroy. They will grace the stage at two 21+ clubs in August; the Voodoo Lounge in San Jose on Aug. 8 and the Aptos Club in Aptos on Aug. 12.

Have your say: Do you have a complaint or compliment about an issue that affects Gilroy residents? Perhaps you’d like to suggest a turn signal at a troubled intersection? Just let the Red Phone know. But remember to leave a name and number when you call or e-mail. The Red Phone won’t publish this information – it will only be used if verification is necessary.
