and teacher, died Sept. 18, 2003 after a brave and courageous
battle with cancer.
Thelma Crothers, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and teacher, died Sept. 18, 2003 after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Thelma was born in Hawaii in 1973 and grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. She loved traveling with her family to European countries, her native land of Hawaii and Disneyland. Thelma was a consummate and quick learner, achieving her master’s degree in counseling at age 23 from Santa Clara University.
She taught sixth grade at Pacific West Christian Academy and was active in her church and the community.
She lived a full life and her true love was being a mother to her daughter Krysten. Thelma leaves us with the inspiration to live our lives in the fullest, especially in the face of adversity.
Thelma is survived by her husband Paul Crothers of Gilroy, her daughter Krysten Henerfauth of Gilroy, her parents Romy and Tesse Calunan of Las Vegas, Nev., her brother Rhode Calunan of Colorado, her sister Rachel Chui of San Jose and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the San Jose area.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Gilroy Presbyterian Church at 6000 Miller Ave., reception to follow. Grave site services to be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Monterey El Encinal Cemetery at 351 Madison St., Monterey.
In lieu of flowers a trust fund is available for Krysten Henerfauth via South Valley Community Church in Gilroy. Services are under direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.
