• My wish for Gilroy would be a permanent, year-round homeless shelter. Not just a bed for the night but a comprehensive facility offering mental health services, job training and life skills. It can happen!
• My wish for this Season and always is good health, long life and open, compassionate, accepting minds for all Gilroy residents.
• The community spirit is alive and generous in Gilroy! I guess having better access, more lanes through the traffic jammed streets near Costco/Kohl’s shopping areas would give me more patience and want to go there more often.
• Christmas wish … Treat everyone decently with love and respect and pray to the hockey gods for a good season!
• My Christmas wish for Gilroy is that we could all give each other the peace of acceptance. I would love it if all people could graciously accept all the other people who are so different. Our melting-pot town hosts religious and cultural practices from many different parts of the world. They are all interesting and enriching and deserve our respect and maybe even our curiosity. Try a friend’s holiday practice and offer her the respect she deserves, trying to preserve her heritage in this new homeland.
• My holiday wish for Gilroy: thriving downtown, lower crime rate, less homelessness.
• A thriving downtown that makes significant improvement in the next year so that it becomes clear the community has the will and the plan to put the resources necessary into a sustained revival effort. Such an effort will pay dividends. Everyone who lives in the city will want to visit and enjoy a downtown with lively restaurants, entertainment and a wide variety of shops that serve many needs in our wonderful community.
