 Thomas Steiner Phillips passed away at his home in Gilroy following a brief illness.
 He loved the outdoors spending his time gardening, working with his hands and reading. He volunteered for his local water board and road committee. He was a great friend and neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a retired member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 104 and a Viet Nam Veteran.
 He is survived by his wife, Elaine, children, Daniel Phillips, Monica (Hsien) Liu, step-children, Marice (Nanae) Frandsen, Heather (Daniel) McClellan, Coit Frandsen, Aaron Frandsen, and nine grandchildren.
