The redrawing of district boundary lines for the Santa Clara Valley Water District is closer to fruition.
A list of nearly 20 maps were narrowed to three – maps S, T and Q – by the redistricting advisory committee on April 13. Their recommendation of those maps will be considered by the water board at an April 27 meeting and one map could be adopted by the board.
The water district must redraw boundaries as required by AB466 which asks for reform by the board by making all seven board seats elected by district, rather than the current five districts and two at-large seats.
While the final decision could come as soon as that meeting, a second meeting time is scheduled for May 11 if further discussion is needed.
The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. at the water district’s headquarters at 5750 Almaden Expressway in San Jose.
