Following a four-month investigation that relied heavily on public views of surveillance camera footage, police arrested three South County residents for their alleged involvement in an October shooting outside a Campbell nightclub, authorities said.
The shooting happened early in the morning Oct. 26, 2013, in the parking lot of The Spot, 201 Orchard City Drive, according to Campbell police. The shooting occurred just before 2 a.m.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found a 33-year-old man suffering from a single gunshot wound, according to a press release from the Campbell Police Department. The victim, who was an employee of The Spot, was transported to an area hospital and has since recovered from his injuries.
Campbell Police investigators obtained surveillance footage from cameras inside The Spot that depicted the shooting suspects, police said. The footage was broadcast to the public, and received more than 11,000 views on the Campbell Police Department’s YouTube channel.
On Thursday, following up on leads identifying the shooting suspects, detectives from Campbell, Morgan Hill and Gilroy executed three search warrants in South County – two in Morgan Hill and Gilroy, police said.
Two of the suspects were arrested at their homes, on suspicion of attempted murder, police said. The third suspect was already in custody at Elmwood Correctional Facility in San Jose on unrelated charges, and he was booked last week on suspicion of attempted murder for his alleged involvement in the October shooting.
The suspects were identified as Jose Torres, 23 of Morgan Hill; Rajpreet Kahlon, 21 of Morgan Hill; and John Ybarra, 22 of Gilroy, according to police.
Detectives continue to investigate the October incident. Anyone with information about the crime may contact the Campbell Police department at (408) 871-5190, or the anonymous tip line at (408) 947-7867.Â
