Thanks to the help of a vigilant citizen, police arrested three teens caught vandalizing a wall at Rod Kelley Elementary School.

At 12:30 a.m. Sept. 27, the Gilroy Police Department received a call from a concerned citizen reporting a vandalism in progress. Officers found four males spray painting a wall at Rod Kelley. The vandals immediately fled the scene. Three of the four were captured. Abel Marquez, 19, Leonardo Romero, 18, and William Virgen, 18, were arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, conspiracy, resisting arrest and possession of graffiti implements. The fourth male suspect is outstanding.

“This is a great example of the community and the Gilroy Police Department working in partnership to deter crime within the City of Gilroy,” said Corporal Justin Matsuhara.

Anyone with information may call Officer Jesus Cortez or Investigator Doug Remmick at 846-0350.
