DEAR EDITOR:

In her column of March 11th, Stephanie Smith makes her argument for striking the words “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. Among other statements she said, ” … I feel that religion should have nothing to do with the government. That is why we have separation of church and state.” Later she states that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that the words “under God” were unconstitutional.

Now that presents a dilemma and I would like to ask Stephanie a bit of tongue in cheek question: Various governments want some of my earnings paid to them by April 15th. But since all my money says “In God We Trust” how do I separate my religious money from godless government? Refuse to pay my taxes?

Might I suggest that sense can be taken out of mankind (including courts) but mankind can never take God out of anything.
