WEST VALLEY – The Orchard Valley Tornadoes U12 Girls Class III competitive soccer unit took an unblemished league record on the road Sunday against the West Valley Divas, but came home on the short end of a 2-0 score.
In a well-played first half, both teams had several chances to score – but neither team could capitalize. The Tornadoes set up at least three solid shots on goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net. The Divas also missed a couple of chances with one rifled shot deflecting off the cross bar.
In the second half, the same Divas player who had hit the bar adjusted her aim and banged in the game’s first goal. She later set up a second goal for her teammate, and the Tornadoes could not find an answer to the Divas’ solid defense.
The Tornadoes did maintain their first-place position in the league, and take on the Crush next Saturday at the Morgan Hill Soccer Complex.
