It’s been a steady push down the stretch for the Gilroy High track and field team – and the season isn’t over yet. In fact, the most important part is just beginning.

Recording times and marks ranking in the top-nine at Tuesday’s Tri-County Athletic League Trials at North Salinas High, 18 athletes qualified through to Friday’s TCAL Finals at Garcia Elder Sports Complex.

The Mustangs will be represented in 14 events during Friday’s finals.

Included in the list of multiple-event qualifiers are, Chelsey Kalata (100-meter dash, 200), Savannah Silacci (400, 800), Samantha Una Dia 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Angeline Kimbo (shot put, discus), Jourdan Soares (100, long jump), Julius Travis (100, 200), David Guenther (long jump, triple jump), Romeo Travis (100, 200), Cordero Gonzales (shot put, discus) and Austin Boyd (shot put, discus).

The 4×100 and 4×400-relay teams automatically qualified through to the finals.

Friday’s meet will get underway at 3:30 p.m.
