Six engines from Gilroy, Morgan Hill and South Santa Clara Fire District responded to a fire in a single-wide trailer on the premises of Soil Health U.S., located at 9665 New Ave. in Gilroy Tuesday.

Gilroy Fire Department Division Chief Chris Webber said a neighbor called in the fire at 2:42 p.m.

The fire was limited to the unoccupied trailer and a small neighboring shed, said Jamie Norton of the Morgan Hill City Fire Department.

“The unit had power and the inside has been destroyed,” Norton said. “It appeared to be being used for storage.”

Norton estimated the damage to the trailer and its contents to be around $20,000. Further investigation narrowed the cause of the fire down to an electrical fault, Norton said.

Steve Guerriero, the manager of the property and owner of the trailer, explained that he was just helping out a friend in need of extra space.

“It was just personal things from his house in there,” Guerriero said.
