Six people were hurt, two seriously, Thursday when a flat-bed truck strayed across the center line while traveling east on Highway 152 near Dunne Hill. The truck side-swiped an oncoming three-axle big-rig, which veered sideways and hit a third car, a Nissan Titan traveling behind the flat-bed truck. The truck continued east, side-swiping one car and then hitting another, sending the second car and the truck crashing into a ditch. Two passengers from the second car suffered serious injuries and were flown by a CalSTAR air ambulance to area trauma centers. Both are Bakersfield residents, and one has been identified as 24-year-old Doug Biggs II. The other person, a 21-year-old passenger in the car, suffered major injuries. Four additional people were transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital with minor injuries. All the injured were wearing seatbelts. Highway 152 was closed for about two-and-a-half hours while the accident was cleared. The truck driver was identified as Samuel Bimbela, 40, of Van Nuys. No one was arrested, and alcohol and drugs are not suspected as the accident’s cause.
