Everything from (he college president’s evaluation to school board policies will be discussed at a series of Special meetings of local school hoards this week.
Gavilan College trustees will meet at 6 p.m. today to begin evaluating President Dr. Rose Marie Joyce.
• This will be Joyce’s first review after her first full year as president of the community college., Joyce has served as interim president following the departure of Glenn Mayle, who led the school from 1992-97. Joyce’s review is due May 15.
Also, the Gilroy Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6:30 p.m. today to continue its review of board policies.
The board is reviewing each district policy it uses to guide Its actions and decisions for the district.
The review conies on the Heels of the management audit, which suggested a revision of policies, a recommendation hat was echoed in the district’s curriculum audit that was released in February. Some hoard policies date back to the 1960s.
GUSD board members will also meet on Thursday at 6:30 P.m. to review the budget. District officials are in the process of creating, the budget for the 1999-00 school year.
Trustees would like to follow the curriculum audit suggestion to allow programs drive the allotment of money for the district instead of rolling over money from the previous year, as the district has done in the past.
The school board will also continue its negotiations with the California School Employees Association on Thursday.
Currently, district officials and classified employees have not been able to reach a settlement on salary, and Denise Jensen, the labor relations representative for CSEA, asked the board last week to “direct your negotiators to make a proposal to CSEA that is acceptable.
