Christopher High softball defeated Pajaro Valley 11-0 in five innings Tuesday in Gilroy. Angelica Carrillo and Kayla Medrano each had two hits and three RBIs, Olivia Barajas drove in two runs, Arianna Vasquez produced a pair of hits and five other Cougars had a hit in the win.

CHS (16-6 overall, 9-1 Monterey Bay League) is two victories from a league championship – one it will share with Monterey should the Toreadores win out as well. The Cougars are at Seaside Thursday night and home to Watsonville May 8. In between the Cougars will play Gilroy High on Saturday. That game is at 2 p.m. at GHS.
VOLLEYBALL
A second straight Tri-County Athletic League championship wasn’t in the cards for the Gilroy High volleyball team this season. The Mustangs, who finished runner-up in the TCAL Valley Division, lost 3-1 (26-24, 25-13, 20-25, 25-18) to Monterey, the Mountain Division champ, in the TCAL postseason tournament Tuesday night.
The Toreadores will play San Benito, the Valley champ, which beat Watsonville (Mountain runner-up) on Thursday, to decide the TCAL outright champ. The Mustangs, (20-13 overall) meanwhile, will wait and see if they earn a playoff bid. That will be decided Saturday at the CCS volleyball seeding meeting.
BASEBALL
Christopher High banged out 18 hits in a 12-6 victory at Watsonville on Tuesday, playing a game that was postponed from an earlier date this season.
The Cougars (16-6, 11-2 Monterey Bay League) posted a combined 32 runs in back-to-back wins over the Wildcatz this week. CHS, which is in a three-way tie for first with Monterey and Monte Vista Christian, is at Seaside today at 4 p.m.
• Gilroy High dropped a 6-0 nod to Palma in TCAL action Tuesday in Gilroy.
GOLF
Christopher High lost to San Benito at Laguna Seca in a battle for an automatic CCS playoff berth. The Cougars, which won the Valley Division title, have an outside shot to make the postseason with an at-large bid.
