Gilroy – Police foiled two car thieves Sunday night, minutes
after the theft was reported. About 2:30am, officer Jesus Contreras
saw a white 1999 Honda Civic speed past him: the same vehicle just
reported stolen from northwest Gilroy. Contreras signaled the
vehicle to stop, but the driver, 20-year-old Fue Mova, plowed
on.
Gilroy – Police foiled two car thieves Sunday night, minutes after the theft was reported. About 2:30am, officer Jesus Contreras saw a white 1999 Honda Civic speed past him: the same vehicle just reported stolen from northwest Gilroy. Contreras signaled the vehicle to stop, but the driver, 20-year-old Fue Mova, plowed on.

A mile-long pursuit ended in a crash at the intersection of Mantelli and Hirasaki drives. Moua and his passenger, 19-year-old Lue Her, tried to escape on foot, but were arrested by Contreras at the scene. He suffered a broken arm and pinky finger, and cuts to his feet after he ran barefoot from the crash.

Both men are from Merced. Moua was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, engaging in a vehicle pursuit with injury, resisting arrest and a hit and run with injury, and was booked into county jail, no bail allowed. He was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and resisting arrest.

Moua is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, Jan. 10 at noon.
