Two 17-year-olds were arrested in connection with the beating of

Two 17-year-olds were arrested in connection with the beating of a 20-year-old man in the alley behind the 7300 block of Church Street.

Police received a call of a fight about 1 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found the two teens and a hydraulic arm from a vehicle’s hatchback was found nearby. This is believed to be the weapon used to strike the 20-year-old in the head, police said.

One teen was arrested on suspicion of possessing a deadly weapon (screwdriver), violation of probation, and assault with a deadly weapon. The other teen was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Based on statements made on prior to the assault and physical evidence this crime is believed to be gang related.
