A 17-year-old male was sentenced to nine years in prison and a 19-year-old was sentenced to 14 years in prison for shooting up a car with a shotgun nearly a year ago.

Jonathan Hernandez and the juvenile – whose name police did not release – both reached plea deals with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, police said. Hernandez pleaded to assault with a deadly firearm with firearm and gang enhancements, police said. The details of the juvenile’s plea deal was not immediately available, police said.

On April 1 at 7:09 p.m., Hernandez and the boy rolled up to a group of three 18-year-old Hispanic males standing near the corner of Rosanna and West Eighth streets, police said. From their compact white truck, one of the two males fired a shotgun at the three males, hitting all of them.

Two of the injured males were transported to a hospital, but neither of their wounds was life-threatening, police said. The third person was injured, examined at the scene and released.

The shooting was gang-related, police said.
