Blues turn three power-play goals into 4-3 win over Sharks
SAN JOSE– Once the St. Louis Blues converted their first two power play opportunities to build a 3-1 advantage, the San Jose Sharks spent the final half of Monday’s game fruitlessly trying to pull even with the visitors.
HOCKEY: Blues tie series with 3-0 win over Sharks
ST. LOUIS – Funny how things work out. As the playoffs approached, St. Louis Blues coach Ken Hitchcock was undecided and non-committal about which of his goaltenders would get the starting call. The pair – Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott – combined for 15 shutouts during the season, splitting duties almost down the middle.

Fill in the pool, build bocce courts and let them eat cake
At a recent City Council retreat, ’twas suggested that the city fill in the swimming pool at South Valley Middle School and build bocce ball courts. And, as a stunningly brilliant ancillary measure, the city will seek a summer use contract with the Hilton Garden Inn and Motel 6 that would allow east side Gilroy residents to purchase a $125 family pass, giving them summer access to the hotel pools. Parking not included. Just kidding … I think, but sometimes you just shake you’re head and wonder about the inability to connect the dots.
HOCKEY: Havlat, Niemi lead Sharks by Blues in double OT
It didn’t take San Jose long to settle into a bit of postseason drama. However, the seventh-seeded Sharks picked as good a time as any to defeat the St. Louis Blues for the first time this season, using a Martin Havlat goal in double overtime to gain a 3-2 victory in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Western Conference playoffs Thursday night in St. Louis.

‘Spamalot’: Side-splitting mirth
“Spamalot” is taken from the successful movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” and the Broadway hit of 2005, for which Eric Idle wrote the book, music and lyrics with John Du Prez. The show garnered 14 Tony nominations and won three, one for best musical. Python groupies and non-obsessed Python theater goers will be gleefully satisfied with all the absurdity and insanity.
