Lately, I've said three things I thought I'd never have to say

At Saint Mary's, the current buzz word is "Five Ones." Fr Robert, our pastor, has talked and written about this several times. The idea is to provide some structure for intentionally deepening, growing, and maturing our faith through five weekly one hour dedications: one hour of prayer, one hour of study (scripture, theology, methods of prayer, etc), one hour of reading toward deepening faith (reflection or meditation books, scripture, etc), one hour of service, and one hour of pay toward the financial well-being of the parish.

You know how you read the stories in the paper of poor, tortured souls who board a plane for a one-hour flight and six hours later they are still sitting on the tarmac in a plane full of people who have not eaten anything but a piece of wood disguised as a granola bar and whose deodorant has failed thanks to the hot, Texas sun and the lack of A/C in the sweltering plane? And you know how you always think, “I hope that never happens to me?”
