LOS ANGELES – Manny Pacquiao won't fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. until November at the earliest, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum said Monday. Arum said Mayweather is trying to stage his next fight May 5 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas without promising Pacquiao a 50-50 split of fight revenue. As a result, Mayweather "isn't in the picture" as Arum plans Pacquiao's next fight for June 9.

Pinpointing the prime cause of California's slow recovery from recession is easy: Too little has been done about the crisis in housing construction, values and foreclosures.     

OTTAWA – Defense was a rumor. So was physical play. Heck, the singer Drake, who performed after the second intermission, did as much hitting as the players in Sunday's 59th NHL All-Star Game at Scotiabank Place. In other words, it was a typical All-Star Game: Free-wheeling pond hockey on national TV. The New York Rangers' Marian Gaborik recorded a hat trick and was named the MVP as Team Chara outlasted Team Alfredsson, 12-9. It was the fourth-highest scoring game in all-star history.

Rough 49ers loss. This made matters worse: having to listen to Joe Buck on the TV broadcast. He's unfathomably annoying. Can't Sony or another leading edge TV manufacturer figure out a way to put the AM radio in the TV tuner and sync up the broadcast so you can watch the game and tune into the local radio broadcasting team? Perhaps some bright techie type in audience land has solved this problem. If so, let me know so I can pass on the good news and help stop the Buck stop here.
