Gilroy High’s varsity girls volleyball team lost in three sets at Valley Christian on Thursday night: 25-8, 25-14, 25-11.

Mustangs coach Sue Grogan said her players did “some things that worked,” but due to the height of Valley Christian the visiting club was “hard pressed to get much past them.”

Gilroy is now 2-3 in the preseason. The Mustangs will be playing at Watsonville tonight at 6:30 p.m. following the freshman and JV contests at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively.

Junior Varsity/Freshman Note:

Gilroy’s junior varsity lost its first game of the season, dropping to 7-1, by falling 25-12, 25-17 to Valley Christian earlier in the afternoon Thursday. Gilroy’s freshman team won a close match, 24-26, 26-24, 19-17.
