MORGAN HILL – Henry Coe State Park is hosting a few spring events that beg your adventurous side to come out and see some of the Valley’s natural beauty.
On Saturday at 9 a.m. there will be a guided horse ride starting at the Coyote Creek Entrance. Pack up lunch and some water and hop on a horse to explore the southern reaches of Coe Park on a two- to three-hour ride with Chere Bargar and Kitty Swindle.
Sign up in advance by calling Kitty, at 842-6215, or Chere, at 683-2247.
At 10 a.m., join Rob Glover on a moderately strenuous 10-mile loop hike to the site of the historic Madrone Soda Springs resort and to the park’s most popular swimming hole, China Hole.
Bring water, a lunch and a swimming suit (in case you decide to take a dip). At 8 p.m. Marlene Testaguzza will take you on a tour of Coe Park seasons with her beautiful slides of nature scenes.
Dr. Winslow Briggs will lead a hike explaining the ecology and natural history of Coe Park Sunday at 10 a.m.
This hike will leave from the park visitor’s center, cover about five miles and take roughly 4 hours, so bring water and lunch.
There will also be wildflower walks at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wildflower Walks and hikes, unless otherwise noted, depart from the Visitor Center at park headquarters.
The evening programs similarly are held at the Visitor Center, starting at 8 p.m. and lasting about an hour.
