Victory over Eagles pushes Cougars’ record to 2-1.
GILROY – Bouncing back from a difficult five-set loss to Leigh on Tuesday, the Christopher High girls varsity volleyball team jumped right back on the winning track with a four-set triumph (25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-16) over visiting Everett Alvarez in nonleague action Wednesday.
“After a tough lost the night before … they played well,” head coach Sam Navarez said.
Aly Olvera and Claudia Ferreira led the way with nine kills apiece and Merrett Brown had six kills from the middle. Alex Gerberick had 20 assists in the match.
“The girls are starting to play as a team,” Navarez said. “We still have some areas to improve on, but overall they did a good job. I am very proud of them.”
The Cougars continue a busy week with an away game tonight against St. Francis C.C.C.
